Town Council: Agenda – Feb. 2nd

The next Yountville Town Council meeting is Tuesday, February 3 at 3 pm on Zoom. This one proves to be engaging with discussion on the changes to the current town budget for fiscal 2020/2021 and then a discussion on budget parameters to set the stage for budget discussion for fiscal 2021/2022. Now is the perfect time to jump in, understand and learn the process. With Admin/Regular Items 10 A. MIDYEAR BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2020/2021, you can see how the Town is fairing eight months into our current cycle. Then, Admin/Regular Items10 B. PROPOSED BUDGET PARAMETERS AND KEY ASSUMPTIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021/2022 sets the stage for budget meetings in May for a full budget cycle..

Not to be upstaged, the Council will start the early afternoon meeting with a discussion on, wait for it, you know it… PARKING! Public Hearings A. USE PERMIT AMENDMENT REQUEST – DEMEINE ESTATES. This is a second discussion on the business/living space at 2080 Humboldt Street. This is an amendment request, so the applicant requests changes to the original Use Permit from a few years back. And at the Council meeting on January 5 concerning this Demeine Estates Use Permit Amendment, Councilmember Eric Knight commented, “I am concerned about how we move forward and protect the housing unit, and I am hesitant to perpetuate the “pay to play” method of businesses purchasing parking spaces.” I am excited and interested to see how this turns out.

Can you hear me now?  How about now?  Of course, you can because gas-powered leaf blowers are being banned from Yountville on July 1. Admin/Regular Items 10 F. LEAF BLOWER INCENTIVE PROGRAM will be discussion and possible direction regarding the GasPowered Leaf Blower Ordinance Incentive Program. Council will move the process forward and make some decisions on how the Town will “assist” (financially) to make this happen.

With these budget items on the agenda, I am excited to announce that The Yountvillian will be doing a three-part article on the Yountville Town Budget. We will begin with revenues and then take you into the expenses of operating this community. We will end with special funds, leading us into the budget meetings scheduled for May 5 and May 19 at 9:30 am. Get those dates on your calendar now!

I am thrilled dry January is over; I will definitely have a drink in hand for this meeting. Remember we post the meeting highlights the next day on all our social media and our website.
