How Military Deaths Have Changed Over Time

The federal government established Memorial Day in 1971 to honor those who died during military service, and every year on this day, we remember those who have lost their lives defending the country. One of my favorite sites, USA Facts, provided a historical analysis of how military deaths have changed over time from World War 1 to Iraq.

This article sheds light on many components that affect or affected the lives of our military service members, including drafts, demographics, and type of death. I found that this information gave me a deeper understanding of those who we remember on this day and a better idea of their experience.

A review of military deaths shows fewer deployed service members, which has ultimately led to fewer deaths.
