Yountville Raises Pride Flag

The image shows council members Margie Mohler, Marita Dorenbecher, Eric Knight, Vice Mayor Kerri Dorman, Town Mayor John Dunbar, and Town Manger Steve Rogers at the ceremony. Thanks for making it happen.

Mayor Dunbar announced that Town will raise the Philadelphia Rainbow flag on the Town Hall Ceremonial Flag Pole at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Town Hall.

The Town Council adopted Resolution 19-3561 in 2019 which established the policy to display the Rainbow Flag during LGBTQ Pride Month in June on the Town Hall Ceremonial Flag Pole. The rainbow striped flag has symbolized the LGBTQ-rights movement since 1978 when Gilbert Baker, artist and activist, created the banner as a show of solidarity for the San Francisco gay community.

The flag raising will precede the scheduled 3:00 pm Town Council meeting. All community members are invited to this ceremony. COVID-19 safety protocols and masks will be required for those participating in the flag raising or attending the event.
