Town Awarded $144,700 Community Power Resiliency Grant

The Town of Yountville has been awarded the Community Power Resiliency grant from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for $144,700. This grant will allow the Town to increase the utilization of the emergency generators during power outages to existing Town facilities, including Town Hall, Town Hall Annex, the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), and the Emergency Shelter Hall Yountville Community Center. Over the past several years, Yountville’s Community Center has provided shelter for residents and those living in unincorporated areas of the County of Napa during five (5) power safety power shutoffs (PSPS). In the past two years during regional PSPS, the Community Center opened as a charging center/cooling station for a total of 13 days (130 hours). The Town plans to use the funding to connect existing stationary emergency generators in Town to the EOC generator, connect the Community Hall emergency generator to the Community Center facility, install transfer switches, and acquire lithium portable power stations with solar panels and charging station supplies for residents with medical needs and compact multi-port charging cords. The Town to be better prepared for a power loss due to a PSPS event.
