I played tourist this weekend in Yountville and Napa, and the main thing I saw was all the shops that have left Yountville and are now in Napa. As I walked the streets of Yountville and through V Marketplace, it became obvious that lack of diversity and the lack of shops. For reasons not understood, the landlord has driven most businesses away and appears to have no plan for the future. I know the Town keeps in contact with the landlords, and at the end of the day, we are a capitalist society that has to adhere to the whims of the owners, and the Town can only continue to suggest and prod.
The Town Council has decided to wait to make any decisions on Economic Recovery for the operating businesses until 2022; it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
