Napa Valley Wine Train Will Offer Afternoon Tea

The Napa Valley Wine Train is one of those popular must-do activities when visiting, and soon the trip through wine country will include afternoon tea starting on weekend itineraries in April and May.

Starting at $165 per person, the basic service is included in the ticket price. For an extra $135 per two-top table, visitors may enjoy caviar, housemade chips, mini blinis, diced eggs, green scallions, and crème fraîche as part of an upgraded experience. There will also be wine flights and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase during the event.

The Napa Valley Wine Train’s signature three-hour, 36-mile roundtrip route between downtown Napa and St. Helena. The trip, which is available to customers aged 10 and above, leaves from the McKinstry Street Station at 11:30 a.m. Visitors will have a glimpse of the industrial portion of Napa as the train leaves the station before passing vineyards. For those who are above the age of 21, the typical tea service begins with a glass of sparkling wine (or cider for those under the age of 21).

Then, the tea cart comes along, with elegant cups full of fine teas. After that, a demitasse of soup and a petite salad is served, followed by a typical three-tiered plate of finger sandwiches, warm scones, and strawberries with Chantilly cream. Petit fours and other little treats round off the tastes. At 2:30 p.m., the train returns to Napa.
