Napa County Names New Fire Chief

Jason Martin, the current assistant chief of the Napa Fire Department, has been selected as new fire chief for the Napa County Fire Department, effective October 1.

Confirmed by the county board of supervisors and the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit last Tuesday, Martin was appointed through a competitive selection process and has since been promoted to deputy chief of Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit.

“I have had the privilege of working in this County for over 26 years, and I am incredibly appreciative of this appointment,” Martin said. “I’m honored to continue serving the County in this new capacity.”

Napa County’s new fire chief started his career with Cal Fire in 1988 before moving to Napa County in 1995 and serving different fire department ranks and cities. He will replace the former fire Chief Geoff Belyea who has accepted a position with American Canyon Fire Protection District.
