More School Closures in Napa Valley 2022

In the March 5 edition of the Napa Register, there was a lengthy article on more school closures for the NVUSD in 2022. The Yountville elementary school saw its last students in 2020, and the future of the site remains unclear.  The Town has been in discussions with the school district to purchase the lot, and based on California law, certain steps need to be taken, and restrictions apply for the property. The Town has been vocal and transparent about its interest and the fact that over $2 million has been set aside specifically to purchase the property. In the article Superintendent, Rosanna Mucetti continually speaks of the lack of funds to make any substantive changes for school closures and updates for consolidation. And here in Yountville, the NVUSD have dragged their feet and played hardball as our Town Manager and Mayor and Vice Mayor try to work with them for a fair and equitable price for Yountville’s school property that would put millions into their funds. The NVUSD and its Board represent bureaucracy at its best. More meetings in March.
