It’s going to be a year of housing talk with words like HCD and RHNA and throw in ADU (read my Town Council notes from January 18). Many of the numbers and determination for housing come from the state level, but you still have an opportunity to stay informed and involved. Our local government does not build housing; they create the rules that shape where housing can be built, what types and how much, and all this is a part of the Housing Element.
The final update is due January 30, 2023. There will be community workshops and many meetings with the Town Council, ZDRB, and an Ad Hoc Committee. The first community workshop will be via Zoom on Wednesday, February 16, 6 – 7 pm. This workshop is an opportunity for the public to learn more general information about the housing element and voice their ideas and feedback. Then a second community workshop will be in person Wednesday, March 2, 6 – 7 pm.
