Campaign Reform and Food Needs in Napa Valley

Once again, I am writing about Napa Vision 2050. Previously, we discussed campaign reform for Napa County. Now there is a discussion about the Napa Food Bank. Napa Vision 2050 sees a way for both of these issues to benefit those in need in our Valley.

The Napa County Board of Supervisors recently voted on March 23, 2021, to observe California State law regarding campaign contributions that went into effect January 2021. The ordinance reads, “A person may not make to a candidate or the candidate’s controlled committee, and a candidate or the candidate’s controlled committee may not accept from a person, any contribution or series of contributions totaling more than the per election amount permitted $4900.” Now that this is in place, Napa Vision 2050 asks the current County Supervisors to use their banked money for the Napa Food Bank. They have created a petition on Change.org to gather support. I have seen firsthand, through food distribution in Napa, the continued need for those who are underserved for daily food needs. The Yountvillian has posted support for a local food distribution group and I am always open and willing to hear ideas and thoughts on ensuring this can continue to happen.

I have also received feedback from others on Napa Vision 2050 and its goals.  That is why we are here, to have these discussions and learn something from our neighbors.

Read the details and see how you feel and possibly participate.
