Batteries — they are one of those pesky household items that are tricky to dispose of, and the Town of Yountville just made that task easier! The Public Works Department has re-instated the Battery Recycling Drop-Off which can now be found at the Community Center lobby.
It’s all too easy to just throw batteries away in the garbage, but that comes at an environmental cost. In fact, improperly disposed batteries contribute to water and air pollution. When depleted batteries are tossed into the trash, they end up in landfills where they decay and leak. As batteries corrode, their chemicals soak into the soil and contaminate groundwater and surface water.
Spare your garbage and the environment and swing by the Community Center lobby to recycle your batteries.
