Town of Yountville – Consolidated General Municipal Election November 8, 2022

The voters of Yountville will be voting for two Councilmembers and a Mayor. Our current Mayor, John Dunbar, will not be seeking another term, and the seats of Councilmember Joe Tagliaboschi and Marita Dorenbecher, currently the Vice Mayor, will be up for election.

Important dates:

  • July 18, 2022 – Nomination Papers for 2022 November Election opens on July 18, 2022, and closes on August 12, 2022. 
  • July 22, 2022 – Council must Call and Give Notice of Holding a General Municipal Election before July 22, 2022, to give the Board of Supervisors
  • August 26, 2022 – Candidate Orientation in Council Chambers
  • October 10, 2022 – Vote by Mail Ballots will be mailed to registered voters

So, CA Elections Code Sections 10220-10230 state individuals officially receive, circulate and file nomination papers for candidacy starting July 18, 2022 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 12, 2022. This means anybody wanting to run for Mayor or the Council can begin the process with the Town of Yountville on July 18. If an incumbent (Tagliaboschi and/or Dorenbecher) fails to submit Nomination Papers by this deadline, then the new deadline is 5:00 p.m. on August 17, 2022 to file Nomination Papers. Town Clerk staff will issue Nomination Papers during regular business hours.

Potential candidates are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk’s office to schedule an appointment to take out and/or file Nomination Papers. As someone who has filed Nomination Papers, I can tell you that the Town Clerk is beneficial in navigating all the paperwork and details that need to be followed to run for Town office successfully. Town Clerk staff will verify eligibility to run with the County before releasing Nomination Papers and making it official.
