Where’s The Beef? With Brock Landers

We return for a second edition of “Taste Life Here” with community member and sommelier Brock Landers, only this time, we’re talking about a specific kind of food – Burgers. So who has got the best beef in Yountville?

Every once in a while, I research and write a story that I just KNOW will have general appeal. This is one of them.

Who does not want to know about — or taste! — the best burger? ?

I realized I may have failed to mention one secret spot that is easily overlooked but definitely noteworthy & an integral part of the landscape. That is Lucy Restaurant and Bar.

As you know the property is a Green machine; a one-of-kind elevated pool framed by a property that has obtained Leed platinum certification. Unfettered Feng shui w/fireside waterfall table sprinkled with “smart” Art, this is a local landmark that is appreciated.

Honorable mention out to the evening Staff at Lucy who were suspiciously generous and helpful.
We started with the Summer gazpacho followed by fresh shrimp tacos and a very juicy grass-fed cheeseburger with duck fat fries.

Obviously, comfort food is avant-garde in YV and in my humble opinion it comes down to 2… RH’s Au Cheval Style vs. Lucy’s grass-fed burger as representatives for our town and both are perfectly crafted & magically delicious.

With an ambiance that screams Lust for Lux, it was a tough decision after several rounds. Ultimately, the consistency of the quality unanimously had us going with RH Au Cheval style burger. The ambiance is reminiscent of a JCB property sans a Liberace‘s wet dream influence.

Bouchon had the delicious brisket burger as a late-night menu. Hopefully the bovine option will be returning soon?
Ciccio had a glimmer of potential as a local favorite. Unfortunately, take-out options didn’t stand a chance post-Vid.

Bottega’s protein-packed truffle Butter burger is a contender but must love truffles and is ultra-rich.
As the general public replenishes from wine fatigue, most fail to notice that R+D can’t melt their sweaty cheddar below coleslaw mountain. But laments seem to enjoy.

Below you will find a list of local cardiologists for anyone interested in taking on the YV bistro circuit.
