Slow Down Napa

A new local initiative called Slow Down Napa is taking to the streets in an effort to slow down residential traffic. The initiative was started by a small group of residents who have growing concerns about the increased speed of cars and traffic through their neighborhoods. The group accounts that cars often travel 30, 35, and 40 mph in 25 mph zones, with more and more commercial vehicles taking residential cutoffs to avoid traffic lights.

The group found its start on a well-known platform called NextDoor, where neighbors can communicate and share local information. After enough community members had spoken up about the dangers of speeding traffic, the NextDoor comrades met for the first time in October 2020 to organize their efforts.

Their mission is to achieve positive results for the community and to form a neighborhood coalition that will work with our local city leaders, the Napa Police Department, and Traffic Engineering and Public Works to make Napa’s residential streets safer for pedestrians, children, pets, and bicyclists by enforcing speed limits.
