Earth Day (and Week)

This Thursday is officially Earth Day, but there are many events being hosted throughout the Napa Valley this week. Many organizations are hosting special events to increase awareness of our planet, including collecting trash from the environment and removing invasive Frend brook plants from Moore Creek Park near Lake Hennessy. Visit Earth Day Napa for a full list of events.

Here’s a list of just a few events to participate in:

Napa Open Space District Earth Day volunteer project
Come out to Moore Creek Park east of St. Helena with the Napa Open Space District and celebrate Earth Day by giving back and getting involved on Thursday, April 22 starting at 9 a.m. They’re working on the ongoing effort to eradicate French Broom in the park. They’ve been making great progress over the past several years in removing this invasive species to help create a healthier forest and reduce fire danger. No previous trail work experience is necessary. Participants will hike through the park, work for a few hours, and then break for lunch before returning.
