$41 Million Maintenance Project for Napa Valley Public Transit Underway

A $41 million repair facility for Napa Valley public transit has begun construction this month. The new 28,000 square-foot building at the Napa Valley Gateway Business Park will replace the existing site on Napa’s Jackson Street.

It is scheduled to open in the fall of next year and will contain six service bays, a bus wash, a regional conference facility for up to 80 vehicle operators, and a transit emergency operations center. The site has the capacity to extend the fleet to 80 transit vehicles.

Alten Construction’s almost $30 million winning offer is included in the total project cost. A team from Stantec was responsible for the project’s programming and master planning, as well as architectural and interior design.

All of the funding for the project will come from grants from the federal Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act, a private bank loan, and a mix of federal, state, and local funding sources.
