Napa County Seeks Applicants for Board of Education

There’s an open seat on the Napa County Board of Education! Registered voters in Trustee Area 6 may apply for the vacant post as Board Trustee Jim Haslip, whose unexpired term expires on November 27, 2024, resigned from his position. The deadline for submitting applications is September 17th. Yountville is located in Area 6.

The Trustees of the Napa County Board of Education provide leadership to support the success of public education. They collaborate with the Superintendent to govern the County Office. Their responsibilities include assuring appropriate educational environments and curricula for students, approving the office’s budget and acquisitions of real property, and determining the salary of the County Superintendent of Schools. Trustees serve as an appellate panel in denials of student inter-district transfers, expulsions, and denials of charter school petitions. They also serve as the County Committee on School District Reorganization with approval authority regarding all proposed changes of school district boundaries.

Regular board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month in the Conference Room of the Napa County Office of Education. Occasionally meetings are held at school sites around Napa County.
