After emailing back and forth, I was invited to tour the Yountville Community Church with Pastor Dan. I had never seen the interior of the previous iteration of the church, and, obviously, a lot of thought and time has gone into the current version. I was mostly interested in hearing the thoughts and ideas for the church moving forward. I learned that a lot of outreach has been going on with food distribution and Sunday sermons. Plans for children’s classes are shaping up as well. This is a non-denominational church, and Pastor Dan wants everyone to be comfortable in the space and not feel the “weight” (my words) of previous Pastors and the burden that can come with traditional religious teachings.
The historical theater, which is open to the main body of the church, can be an extension of seating for Sunday services and also works well for speakers and presentations for further ministry and outreach. August 22 will be the first service, and both Pastor Dan and I agreed it will be interesting to see how many show up. You might just find me in the back pew, much like my early years attending church. I will continue to look for the Community in the Yountville Community Church.
