You Say Parking Pad/ They Say Private Property

As Washington Park prepares for new street paving after the $1M repair of the underground water lines, another issue has arisen. The Town will repave and improve the street and, it has become very apparent, will not be touching the parking pads. The Town has reminded the residents that the parking pads are private property and the property owner’s responsibility. If there was any damage during this current process from heavy equipment or connections to fire hydrants, then the Town will repair the parking pad. Washington Park was developed around 1994 in Phase I, and Phase II was shortly after. With its narrow streets, this development was intended to have an Old Town feel with are no sidewalks. Originally the parking pads were gravel and DG and not raised, similar to Old Town. And then that was removed and replaced with raised parking pads. Then the ADA issue was raised by the Town, and a public meeting was held in 2015 to discuss the issue with the neighborhood. A few years back, the Town slurried the parking pads, and as they say, no good deed goes unpunished. So there is definitely some miscommunication and misunderstandings here. See the explanation from the Town.
