Washington Park Paving Project – CANCELLATION OF CONTRACT

I did receive some feedback this week upset with the Council’s decision to cancel the paving project in Washington Park. Talk about a perfect storm: water lines had to be replaced, confusion about the parking bay responsibilities, and now torn-up streets. Watching the meeting and reading the details, I believe the Council made the correct decision. I also highly respect the Town attorney, Gary Bell, and he had a lot to say during the meeting. Cancellation of contracts is not done often, and the Council spent quite a bit of time making the decision.  I also believe if the Town Council had discussed the topic of cancellation concerning the Community Center contractor, way back when, that could have alleviated issues with the Community Center. So maybe that was a lesson learned to lead the Town on this path. Word on the street is paving complete on May 6, and there is additional work to be done but paving by May 6.
